Some say the waffle mix called “Obama Waffles” is a racist caricature and others think it’s a harmless and humorous political satire. I think this promotional item might be referring to an Obama quote, “Why can’t I just eat my waffles,” a reply he gave a reporter who interrupted his breakfast with numerous questions. I have unsure feelings about this novelty item; I really don’t know whether to laugh or to be offended. I give it a lukewarm rating for overall objective creativeness. I don’t think I will ever think of waffles the same! You would think waffles would be a friendly promotional item, but the undertone of the promo piece is important too.
