The former president is alleged to still have power over the Russian government, and more importantly over Russia’s new president, Dmitry Medvedev. Although he has enacted a new set of anti-corruption laws, Medvedev admits that it’s more difficult to enforce these documents, given Putin’s extensive influence over the country. On a positive note, President Obama and Medvedev have established a renewed effort to cut back their stockpiles of nuclear warheads, after their first face-to-face meeting ahead of the G20 economic meetings. Obama seems to be slowly but steadily improving relations with Russia, so maybe we’ll some Obama-Medvedev promotional apparel in the near future.
